Defense contractors are often a target of cybercrime because their protections are generally weaker than those in the DoD. To address this issue, the DoD created the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), requiring contractors to meet strict cybersecurity standards and demonstrate their compliance through a third-party assessment. Phase 1 of CMMC Implementation began November 10, 2025; Level 1 and some Level 2 self-assessments will now be a requirement in DoD contracts and solicitations. Phases 2-4 will follow in the coming years, and contractors who comply earlier than required may be favored in the RFP process.
ConfigOS is an automated compliance solution that reduces 90% of the hardening effort for CMMC Levels 2+. It will get you certified faster and more affordably without hiring extra staff. More than that, it will show the DoD you care about protecting their CUI and other data.
